Set sail for $SNS Island!

Crypto is at a significant crossroads. It is one of the most innovative technologies of our generation, yet less than 1% of real-world use cases are realizing its full potential. As of this very moment, most of the industry is rooted in speculation and NFTs. There have been mentions of gaming, yet until a significant game captures consumer attention outside of web3, it will remain insignificant.

Our team realized this roughly 1 year ago, following Solana’s gain in popularity. Solana was the first future-proof blockchain with the technology to compete and best existing web2 companies in terms of scalability, speed and transaction cost. Yet, we were disheartened to discover that Solana’s most popular projects were simply copies of their ETH equivalents and did not use its tech advantages whatsoever. And the few projects that did had NO traction. At the time, we designed an instant on-chain messaging protocol, but when it came to actually releasing it, we realized there would be no demand without necessary social infrastructure. This is how we were introduced to the idea of a name service.

Solana’s premiere name-service is run by Bonfida, yet it is simply a static copy of $ENS. Everything you can do with $ENS, you can do on Bonfida. The only difference is the “.sol” ending and that Bonfida simply charges a fixed higher-cost price than $ENS’s yearly pricing. This model makes the project unsustainable long-term and unfortunately, it did not take advantage of Solana’s tech — no new products, no future vision, no social integrations, no game partnerships, etc. SNS.DOMAINS was going to change this by competing on future vision and ease-of-use. So, we spent the next 6 months studying name services, building our product and getting ready to launch… but then we found out about Sui.

Sui is the most premiere blockchain in the world. It’s technology is as innovative as SOL was when it released, but on a much higher scale. The idea that Sui could scale horizontally and process transactions in parallel, makes it one of the most future-proof concepts. Additionally, from a business perspective, it has elite engineering and business development. Upon realizing these factors, we decided to pivot completely from Solana to Sui for our name-service. Sui is also in the perfect place. It is a blank canvas, and we will help paint of the most beautiful of portraits.

Web3 is a protocol built on top of web2 .Web2 isn’t going anywhere. Google, search engines, all of that is still here to stay and it will continue to play an important role in the future. However, how we interact with web3 (especially from a consumer perspective) has a long way to go. Here at SNS.DOMAINS our goal is to provide key infrastructure for the Sui eco-system to support gaming and other industries, which will eventually expand into Sui.

Our company currently has three main goals

(1): Identity — Every “.SUI” domain will have an NFT. This NFT will have properties that will make it available as a profile as well.

(2): Infrastructure — Every “.SUI” domain will eventually control its equivalent web2 domain DNS.

(3): Products — Every “.SUI” domain will be able to serve as a placeholder for any SUI public address. This will make a wide-range of applications, available with usernames — think SUI Messaging, Social Media, etc.

These goals make our service able to integrate with practically any application on Sui, without including too many integration-specific details that makes our project not portable to other areas of Sui, or games.
