The Creole Moon

The soft tears of the begonias dewed softly in the early dawn as the creole moon journeyed to her bed. Before she could take her rest she had one last thing to do. The moon leaned down. Her shawl of…

Let Your Dream Be Impossible

They say your dream must be measurable to become a goal. I say your dream should be impossible. It is the only way it will motivate you.

I’ve always found it difficult to talk about my long-term goals or dreams. Frankly speaking, I didn’t have any. Still, people like to ask about such things.

One day, I was so annoyed with the question I had no answer to, I said:

You know, it’s actually true that holly is my favourite plant. It is elegant and resilient, it is evergreen and able to protect itself, it is associated with holidays, and so on. There are so many kinds of holly, and all of them are just beautiful. So, it sounded OK for me to have such a dream… Apart from having neither land for plantation nor money to start it. Moreover, no one had holly in my home country. I even doubt it can grow there.

So, that answer was definitely a joke. But it sounded so “me” and funny, that I continued to give it when asked about my dream.

Recently, I had to move. A lot of things changed in my life, and a lot of pillars must have been built from scratch. Once, I found myself lost and not knowing where to start to achieve all my written (and absolutely approachable) goals needed to settle in the new place.

I wandered around the shopping centre even though I did not need anything. And then I noticed it…

My precious holly!

I was so amused! I couldn’t stop thinking of such a nice coincidence and bought it a few days later. And surprisingly, it gave me the energy I needed to start doing all the tasks for achieving my necessary goals.

When looking at my First Holly, I think “Nastia, if you can do something related to that absolutely impossible dream, how could you say you cannot do some simple steps for these measurable goals?!”

Then, I agree with myself, take a breath, and keep moving.

Maybe, one day I will have my holly plantation. But most probably, there will be just a few holly trees in my garden, while the plantation will remain my impossible dream. And I will need it to achieve all those measurable ones.

Do you have such an impossible dream? Share it with us to make it stronger!😉
