The Intriguing Psychology of the Dark Empath

Not all empaths are cut from the same cloth.

On the other hand, empaths are known to be thoughtful and understanding towards other people's emotions.

Empathy can be divided into two types: cognitive and affective. Cognitive empathy means that you are capable of understanding things from another person's perspective. Affective empathy implies that you have the ability to empathize with the feelings of others.

At first glance, dark empaths might seem a bit alluring and mysterious. They possess the cold and unfeeling type of the dark triad traits, making them emotionally dangerous.

This type of empath has cognitive empathy, the ability to grasp the emotional conditions of others. Yet, they cannot connect to that person on an emotional level.

Since their empathetic side is fake, they use their empathy to figure out the weakness of the other person. Thus, they can exploit the other person emotionally — at a later time.
